I had the opportunity to use REDZone this year at a large outdoor event. It was the first time I have ever seen this type of system. It offered me and my team a unique view of how our access points were preforming. During the loading phase of our event it allowed us to direct additional resources to areas such as bag search when the volumes increased. As any event controller will confirm, one of the biggest challenges is managing the event egress. At the end of this event, the system gave us a new and insightful view of how patrons were leaving, as we saw the flowrates increase at each exit, we could instruct our CCTV operators to focus on those exits. The Gardai and Security controllers could then direct their teams to those exit routes, ensuring we had the correct resources to manage the volume of people leaving. Having real time data clearly displayed in the control room certainly gave us a valuable insight as to what was happening on the ground, ensuring our event loaded and more importantly exited safely. I can see how this system could be implement at many of the events I control and would be happy to recommend REDZone to the event organisers I work with.
